A wonderful launch to the "European tour" of the As Long As We Both Shall Live project took place at the "Coming of Age" conference in Berlin, co-sponsored by the US Embassy, the British Council and the Konrad Adenauer Stiftung. This interdisciplinary event combined presentations and panel discussions by scholars, researchers and artists to examine the demographic shifts in population and the opportunities and challenges raised by those changes. As Long As We Both Shall Live: Long-Married Couples in America
Since 1997, photographer Robert Fass has been interviewing and photographing couples across America who have been married 40 years or longer. This ongoing body of work provides an engaging touchstone for viewers to examine their own knowledge and assumptions about marriage, intimacy, family, gender roles, and the evolution of cultural and generational values. Come take advantage of this opportunity to see these images in an intimate setting, and to speak with the artist about his work.
