Bronx, NY - Bronx Documentary Center
December 10, 2015

I was one of six visual artists from the Bronx 200 invited to present a short slide lecture on our work at the incredible Bronx Documentary Center. I shared a few stories about the creation of the As Long As We Both Shall Live project and showed several images from the project. It was an honor to share the stage with five other dynamic and talented individuals from the Bronx as part of the BX200 Visual Artist Studio series, and my thanks go out to organizer Laura N. James for the opportunity to show a bit of the project again in NYC.

Beijing, China - World Trade Center

After selections from As Long As We Both Shall Live were featured in the Chinese arts/fashion/culture magazine VISIONS, journalist/curator Yiman Li invited me to participate in the Harmony + Love exhibition at the World Trade Center in Beijing. I was honored to be the only U.S. artist included in this show, which intends to travel to multiple cities throughout China before touring the world.

A wonderful launch to the "European tour" of the As Long As We Both Shall Live project took place at the "Coming of Age" conference in Berlin, co-sponsored by the US Embassy, the British Council and the Konrad Adenauer Stiftung. This interdisciplinary event combined presentations and panel discussions by scholars, researchers and artists to examine the demographic shifts in population and the opportunities and challenges raised by those changes. A responsive crowd attended this hour-long lecture at the John B. Davis Lecture Hall on the campus of Macalester College. The event was featured in several local newspapers, and interviews with Robert Fass appeared on KARE 11 TV and the local edition of "All Things Considered" on Minnesota Public Radio. Since 1997, photographer Robert Fass has been interviewing and photographing couples across America who have been married 40 years or longer. This ongoing body of work provides an engaging touchstone for viewers to examine their own knowledge and assumptions about marriage, intimacy, family, gender roles, and the evolution of cultural and generational values. Come take advantage of this opportunity to see these images in an intimate setting, and to speak with the artist about his work.
